North Carolina licensees who receive traffic citations are subject to two different point systems, insurance and driver's license points. Driver's License Points:

North Carolina DMV points are assessed only against convictions that occurred within the State of North Carolina. It is possible that out-of-state jurisdictions may assess points within their state (the licensing state) for convictions occurring in North Carolina under the Non-Resident Violator Compact.
