Divorce

A divorce has a major impact on all members of a family.   Not only do the relationships change, but divorce also affects the disposition of houses (real property), business ownership, and personal finances.  At Everett Law Firm, P.A., we understand that the specific circumstances of each case require representation that will meet the needs of our individual client.   

In situations where children are involved, we emphasize protecting a parent’s relationships with their kids.  While zealously representing our clients, our representation is conducted in a manner that attempts to address our client’s and their children’s best interest through experienced negotiations on issues involving child support, child custody, and visitation.

Child Custody

When parents divorce, frequently one of the most contentious areas that will have to be addressed is the issue of parental rights affecting child custody and visitation.   In many circumstances, the children live with one parent (the primary custodial parent) while the other parent has partial custody or visitation rights.  In most cases, the parents share legal custody which governs matters such as decisions involving the child’s education, health care, religion as well as other important concerns. 

While child custody determinations are made as part of the final divorce judgment, changes can be made if the circumstances of the children change and it is determined that a change in custody is in the best interest of the child.  Some examples of situations that make child custody modifications appropriate include moving out-of-state, remarriage, of denial of visitation.
